About Me

Hey! My name is Emily Still. I am a senior at Chadron State College. I am a Senior Resident Advisor in one of the dorms on campus as well as a Peer Mentor for the International Student program. I am a K-12 Art Education major. I initially started school here as an Art Education major, but switched to graphic design shortly into my freshman year. I just changed back at the end of last school year because I realized I would rather teach than sit behind a computer all day. I would have graduated in four years, but since I changed my major I have one extra year tacked on. I don’t mind staying an extra year because it means doing something that I will love.

I absolutely love animals, especially dogs. I also like cats, but I’m allergic to them, so it’s a love/hate relationship. My hobbies include: cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, painting, drawing, and reading. I also like being outdoors. I prefer building things and working with my hands. It is a very satisfying feeling to look at something and know that you put effort into creating it rather than going to the store and buying it.

The first two summers in college I worked for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. I worked as a maintenance worker for the Wildcat Hills and the Bridgeport State Lake. This last summer I worked as a park ranger at the Scotts Bluff National Monument. I have loved working at both places and wouldn’t mind continuing working as a summer seasonal worker at parks throughout my lifetime when I’m not teaching.

  1. I enjoyed reading your introduction, those both sound like really fun jobs! I would love to get my foot in the door for something like that, around here it does not really seem like those opportunities free up very often. I too love dogs, I have a miniature long hair dachshund named Ruger (he thinks he is bullet proof), and a standard blue Merle Australian Shepard named Patrone.

    1. That’s great, I used to have a black lab named Ruger! My dad named him because he was his hunting buddy. And these opportunities open up if you’re looking for them, you just have to keep your eyes open!

  2. I enjoyed reading about you! I am an Elementary Education major, but that is so cool that you want to teach art! Many of your hobbies are also so creative and artistic. I wish I knew how to knit and crochet and all of that – maybe I will have to learn sometime 🙂 Great blog!
